What We Will Tell You That the Brands Will Not

Three things run through every page here.

First: price buys wear time, not a different smell. Within the same stack and the same scent family, a budget pick and a luxury pick read almost the same for the first hour or two. The expensive bottle earns its money between hour four and hour eight. That is a real difference and it is not the difference most marketing implies.

Second: the lotion matters more than the bottle. A $10 unscented lotion under a $20 cologne will out-last a $250 bottle sprayed on dry skin. Nobody selling $250 bottles is going to lead with that.

Third: "milk perfume" contains no milk, and a good share of the bottles marketed under that banner are ordinary vanilla scents with better copywriting. We name the ones that actually carry a lactonic accord and the ones that are riding the trend.
